Say Cheese

A bad pun, rendered well

A personal project and a bad pun taken seriously. “Say cheese” is what everyone blurts out before a photo — so I made the cheese say it back, modelling and rendering the words as a pile of 3D cheese doodles.

It started as an excuse to experiment with Houdini and Redshift, mostly to play with subsurface scattering and get that soft, slightly translucent glow you get in real cheese snacks. The result is somewhere between type, food photography, and a snack you probably shouldn’t eat.
