ViQueens

From Lofoten to Constantinople

ViQueens is an animated feature film directed by Harald Zwart (The Karate Kid), about two Viking girls, Ingrid and Hedvig, whose journey takes them from Lofoten across the seas and along the Silk Road. It premieres in Norwegian cinemas on Christmas Day 2026.

I worked on the film for two years at Gimpville, in a small team where everyone carried a lot of responsibility. I made the grooms for every character in the film, main cast and background characters alike, both hair and fur, in Houdini. I was also responsible for two of the main locations, Lofoten and Constantinople, and modelled all the buildings and most of the assets that belong to them in Blender, with texturing in Substance 3D Painter and shading in 3Delight for Maya. With a team that size, the job was as much about helping shape how the film looks as about delivering assets.
